Obituary for Mr. Bob Brown, Sr.

Mr. Bob Brown, Sr. was born on September 23, 1944, in Hermanville, Mississippi to the late Maxie and Marie Brown. He was one of fifteen siblings, raised in a

large family grounded in faith and resilience.  In 1992, he moved to Longview, Texas by way of Mississippi, where he kept working to

build his life, support his family, and reinforce the foundation he had carefully established.  The following year, in 1993, his wife joined him, and together they began their new chapter

in Texas, while working at LeTourneau Industries, Inc.  At an early age, he accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior and remained steadfast

in his belief in God throughout his life. He later united with the Seventh Day Adventist Church (Three Angels Network), where he faithfully embraced the Blessed Hope-

the promise of Christ’s return and the resurrection of the faithful.  Mr. Brown lived a meaningful and rewarding life. Through his employment, he had

the opportunity to travel extensively, visiting four of the world’s seven continents.  With humility and his signature humor, he would often say, “He’s been everywhere

a poor man could be on somebody else’s expense.” Though he journeyed far across the globe, his heart was always anchored in his family.

He was known for his quick wit and his famous nicknames. If he gave you one, you knew you were loved. Beneath the laughter was a reflective and deeply thoughtful

man. He internalized much and rarely revealed everything on his mind, yet his actions spoke clearly. He showed up. He provided. He protected. He loved through what he did.

For 56 years, he was the devoted husband of Ruby Brown. From this union were born two children: Bob Brown, Jr and Paulette Brown. He also leaves

to cherish his memory his children Carl Hedrick, Joenathan Hedrick, Sandra Spruille, and Julius Hedrick.

He was preceded in death by his parents and the following beloved siblings: Bernell Brown; Maxie Lee Brown, Jr. (“Uncle Woosie”);

Newton Brown (“Uncle Neg”); John Preston Brown (“Uncle Press”); Sam Brown (“Uncle Sam”); Florence Ellis (“Shug” Aunt Florence ;

Billie Jean Reed (Aunt Bille); David Brown (“Uncle Dave”); Fred Sylvester Brown; and Melvin Brown.He leaves to carry forward his legacy his remaining siblings:

Lula Williams (“Sis” or “Aunt Lula”); Viola Moore (“Sister”); Johnny Brown (“Stick” or “Uncle Johnny”); and Tommy Brown.

In addition to his immediate family, he leaves a host of grandchildren, nephews, nieces, cousins, and dear friends whose lives were enriched by his presence

and steady love. “For the Lord Himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:

Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.” (I Thessalonians 4:16–

17) “I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live.” (John 11:25)

We rest in the Blessed Hope that this is not goodbye forever, but until we meet again at the return of our Lord.
